Cardinal Group Companies Eyes Future Operating Model, Announces Promotion of Cara Athmann to Chief Operating Officer
DENVER, CO – September 29, 2022 – Cardinal Group Companies (CGC), an industry leader in student, conventional, and affordable housing investments and property management, announced the recent promotion of its current Chief Technology Officer (CTO), Cara Athmann, to Chief Operating Officer (COO).
“We truly believe that the future of operations will go through technology, so it made sense for us to look at our CTO, Cara Athmann, as a logical choice to be the company’s next Chief Operating Officer. Cara not only understands the technology landscape, but she is a visionary of how tech, operations, and centralization will work together in the future to improve the resident and team member experience. As we do with all things, we focus on how this will impact the team members and residents we serve,” said Alex O’Brien, CEO, Cardinal Group Companies.
Before joining Cardinal in 2018 as the CTO, Athmann spent the last decade in the technology industry and was most recently a Vice President at RevGen Partners in Denver. Before RevGen, Cara gained experience in the multifamily industry as a member of AIMCO’s IT department and in various consulting roles focused on new technology implementations.
One of Athmann’s most significant focus areas is building a future operating model that utilizes modern workflows, including data-driven decisions, Artificial Intelligence, and centralized labor models.
“This is such an exciting time in our industry. The technology capabilities have advanced so significantly that we can create seamless digital experiences for our residents and free up time for onsite team members to focus on creating meaningful in-person connections for our residents,” said Cara Athmann, COO, Cardinal Group Companies. “In addition, the centralization model finally breaks the mold of a previously very rigid career path that also included significant geographic constraints. This convergence of tech and data capabilities creates a unique opportunity to elevate the resident and team member experience while still driving material OpEx savings for our clients and investors.”
Cardinal also recently hired Jacob Kosior as its first Vice President of Centralized Services. Jacob spent the last year focused on centralization at BH Management and has been a marketing and sales leader in the multifamily management industry for over ten years. Kosior will focus on how Cardinal can impact the resident experience through a customized resident journey with a heavy property technology component.
