Discover the Right Opportunity
Take the time to align your unique skills, interests, and experience with roles that genuinely excite you. Every application receives a thoughtful review from our dedicated team of talent advisors and hiring managers. These experts have a comprehensive view of all company-wide opportunities, both current and future. As a result, they might also contact you about a different role that could be a great fit. If a suitable match isn't available right away, we will inform you and welcome you into our talent pools for consideration as new opportunities become available.
Craft a Compelling Resume
Your resume is our first introduction to you, and a strong first impression is crucial. Think of it as the narrative of your professional journey (or brag sheet). Here are a few tips to make it stand out:
Always have a trusted peer or mentor proofread your resume for any spelling, grammar, or formatting errors before you submit. Aim for a clean, easy-to-read format that is one to two pages in length.
Reconsider adding images and excessive formatting. Your headshot isn’t going to help or hurt you, but having the space for more content will.
Tailor your skills and past experience to directly reflect the requirements listed in the job description.
Protip: The skills and qualifications in the job description are what your resume will be measured against.
If something is asked for in the application, it means it’s important to the hiring team.
Metrics, metrics, metrics: Provide specific details about the projects you have managed or contributed to. Example: “I leased up a building” is not helpful. “I led a 800-bed lease up in a class A student housing community in Waco, TX and achieved 50% occupancy in the first three months and 100% by the end of 6 months. Surpassing forecasted occupancy goals by 200%” is helpful.
We want to hear about your successes. Highlight your significant accomplishments, any recognition you've received, or awards you've won.
Reference the award links or links to publications you have written.
The Application Review
Pay close attention to the qualifications outlined in the job description; they are designed to guide you toward the best-fitting role. Our talent advisors use these same criteria when evaluating applications and leverage an AI-based system to assist in matching your skills and qualifications to roles you may even not have yet considered. If your profile appears to be a potential match, one of our Talent Advisors will reach out to schedule a conversation to learn more about your background and expertise.
Interview Prep
Our team has reviewed your application and now it’s time to chat. Here is an inside look into what to expect during our interview process.
Connecting with a Talent Advisor
Should you be considered a good match for roles at Cardinal, a Talent Advisor may reach out to kick off the interview process. This interaction is an opportunity for us to learn more about your background and for you to explore if the role is the right fit. They may schedule a phone or video call to discuss your skills and experience in detail, while also providing an in-depth look at the position and our company culture.
Meet the Hiring Manager
Following the initial screening, the next step is typically a 30-to-45-minute interview with the hiring manager or hiring team. For this round you should be prepared for:
A discussion about the expectations for the role that can’t always be conveyed in the job description
Questions about situational behaviors and core competencies
Role-specific simulations
Ask questions before answering. Show what you know but ask to be informed.
Tips for Success
Come prepared with questions. An interview is a two-way conversation.
Be punctual. Punctuality shows respect for everyone's time. Reschedule when necessary, but explain why.
Dress for success. We encourage professional attire that also reflects your personal style.

You’ve gone through the entire interview process... now what?
The Final Steps
Thank you again for investing your time with us. A closely held Cardinal core value is to build an open and honest relationship with communication and have several methods in place to keep you informed. Keep an eye on your phone for calls, texts, and emails from our team — all of which contain useful information.
Our Selection Process
We are committed to a thoughtful review of every candidate — including careful analysis of your skills and organizational alignment, which can often take time while schedules and clients are involved. This diligence helps us make the best possible choice for both you and our team. If you have any questions along the way, your talent advisor is your dedicated partner. Please don't hesitate to reach out.
Our Decision
An Offer of Employment: Congratulations! If you are selected for the role, our hiring team will be thrilled to call you to extend a verbal offer including the details of your employment. From there, a formal offer letter will be drafted and delivered to you electronically for your review and signature.
If It’s Not a Match This Time: At Cardinal Group Companies, we are dedicated to building exceptional teams. While this specific role wasn't the right fit, we encourage you to explore other open opportunities.
