Describe your Cardinal Journey.
I started with Cardinal in 2020 and relocated from Phoenix, AZ to Corpus Christi, TX to take on a Leasing & Marketing Team Lead role in student housing. From there, I bounced around between Corpus Christi and College Station, TX for various promotions and opportunities. After 3 years in Texas, I made the move to Bozeman, MT to manage our CGI deal there. Then in Fall of 2023, my old manager Eli (and one of my favorite people in Cardinal) offered me an opportunity to move back home to Arizona to take on our new Build-To-Rent portfolio with BB Living. I have been onsite with BB Living for about a year and a half now and I love it! There’s so much to learn in the build to rent world and I’m so happy I landed here!
Who has been influential in your life (professionally or personally), and how have they helped guide you?
My dad has always been my idol. He worked a full time travel job while serving in the USAF Reserves so that my mom could stay home and raise my sister and I. He showed me the value of hard work, and the importance of showing up each day with your best foot forward. To this day I still consult him about work promotions and life advice. He’s my rock!
What is a skill you have developed during your career that you didn’t know you had?
I didn’t know that I have as much patience as I do. Especially in the student housing world and the headache of BTR construction! This job has definitely tested me at times, but I am a better manager for it!
What’s a memorable project or initiative you’ve been part of at Cardinal?
I was one of the 2024 Cardinal RedTalks speakers and I genuinely think it’s one of the coolest work experiences I’ve ever been a part of! Getting to share my story and give advice to others based on my experience in this industry was such a unique opportunity for me and I’m so lucky I got to be a part of it!
What is something about the culture at Cardinal that you value or enjoy?
When I started at Cardinal 5 years ago, I immediately felt like I had found my work family and the company I wanted to retire with. It’s sad how rare it can be to find a company that makes you feel like a person and not just a number, and I’m so grateful that my leadership teams listen to my ideas and push me to be better each day.
If you could spend a day in any department at Cardinal, which one would it be and why?
Business Development! I’m a social butterfly and I love getting to meet with clients and build relationships inside and outside of work. I’m hoping to eventually end up in that department during my Cardinal journey. 🙂
